Centro Inox, Milan (Italy) from 10/26/2017 to 10/26/2017
On October the 26th, in Milan, RINA Consulting is presenting at the 4th Edition of the "Design Manual for Structural Stainless Steel".
The 4th Edition of the Manual, which will be distributed to attendees, collects the most recent experimental evidence of stainless steel structural behaviour and reports on consistent design formulations, compatible with the Eurocode 3 (European standard for steel structure).
RINA Consulting’s presentation focuses on fire resistance of stainless steel, with particular reference to:
- thermal and mechanical behaviour of stainless steel at elevated temperatures; and
- methods for designing stainless steel structural elements under fire conditions.
The design methods are supported by experimental data from both base stainless steel material and full scale structural elements.
Stainless steel is compared with more traditional structural carbon steel, showing that, over its aesthetics and corrosion resistance characteristics, it can offer load bearing capacity, toughness and ductility. All these properties make stainless steel an attractive solution for structural applications.
The research and dissemination activities are partially funded by the Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS Dissemination Project 709600).
